It's the little things...

So I’m getting ready to go out of town, and when I do drive around in places I don’t know I like to have a GPS.

So, I had purchased a program for the laptop which has a GPS receiver, and can plot your course and all of that type of stuff.

Wonderful, we’re ready to go.

So I plug in the laptop to charge it up. It doesn’t charge. So I try a different plug. It still doesn’t charge. GAH, Compaq told me they fixed this!!! Well, apparently they didn’t.

So, off to BestBuy I go, to pick up an AC/DC charger. That way I can plug into the cigarette lighter (yes kiddies, that’s what it originally was, not a 12v accessory adapter for your iPod) and use my GPS program.

Wonder if I should have just bought a TomTom instead……..

Yes, I'm still here!

After months of not writing anything in here, I suddenly remembered that I HAD a blog. Ya, ya, I know, that’s pretty weak. I’m sorry for not posting in here more often.

So what’s happened since my last posting? Well, quite a lot actually.

For one, BosMonitor died. While I was really excited about creating, and releasing this application, I decided not to. One of my biggest concerns to be quite honest, was legal. BosDev is a small company, and the less risks I take, the better the company is. BosMonitor was quite a nice program, but if it failed, it could have opened up some floodgates which could have shut me down forever. So instead, I took the application and I just used it on my own web sites. Sorry, but I’m not going to release it. Ever…

BosMarket had received a face lift since my last posting as well. That was quite a fun challenge actually. The release went pretty smoothly, with only a couple small bumps to smooth out. Nothing major had to be “fixed", and that made me really happy. Your response to the improvements really made me happy. Thanks to everyone who sent me encouraging emails, it was appreciated.

Bos?????????? has begun development. And while I don’t create as fast as I used to, it’s on a nice steady pace. A couple of you out there have correctly guessed what the new script will be. Now shush, and keep the secret! This should be a fun script once it’s all done. What’s really been cool is the “guessing game” which some of you have been playing with me. Of course, it may be me who’s playing with you. :) You’ve given me several interesting ideas for the future. If I could only clone myself…

Just this week I released a new modification to BosClassifieds, BosMarket and BosDates which will remove practically every XSS attack from every piece of user input. There’s been a couple valid Secunia alerts relating to BosDates and BosClassifieds which spurred this action to occur. Patches have been released, and there’s threads in the forums regarding these. Please make sure to check them out. Just a reminder though, for every patch and security measure that’s created, there’s a new script kiddie out there trying to find a way in. Ask Microsoft, they love dealing with script kiddies…

In recent months I have also picked up contracts to maintain a couple of large sites, so that has also set back part of my programming time. Have patience my friends, great things are to come.

Ok, I’ve nothing left to say right now, so I guess I’ll close with a Bible verse which has been on my mind for awhile.

How long will you lie there, you sluggard?
When will you get up from your sleep?

A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest-

and poverty will come on you like a bandit
and scarcity like an armed man.

I'm horrible at this blogging stuff...

My intention when I installed this, was to make regular updates to it.

Yeah, anyways…………

BosMonitor is still in progress. However, it’s slightly delayed as I’ve been hired on to work on a couple web site remodels, and one of them is quite large.

One of my customers made a suggestion today which I really liked for BosNews. I’m gettin’ that itch again to recode that whole thing again. I just can’t get comfortable with it. Yes, it works, and it works well, but I think it can be better. Perhaps after I finish BosMonitor I’ll redo BosNews.

Had a couple of great ideas posted for other products as well. Ya’ll are coming up with some good material, and I appreciate it.

That’s about all for now, aren’t you glad you wasted your time reading it?
