Database
In order to maintain the database for your classifieds system, you will need to login to your System Administrator account. You may login by clicking "Login" on the top menu of your classifieds. After you are logged in, you will be presented with the user account screen. On the left hand menu, you should see a link labeled "System Admin". Clicking this link will take you to the admin control panel.
When you enter the admin control panel, you will see a list of links in the left hand column. This section of the manual deals with the "Manage Database" section of your control panel. After clicking the "Manage Database" link, you will be presented with a screen which is broken into a few sections.
Only System Admininistrators are able to view this section of the admin panel.
Routinely making a database backup of your classifieds system is not only easy to do, but it also highly recommended. Having a regular backup on hand is useful if something happens to your web server.
Anytime you visit this section of the admin panel, the database will automatically perform some repair and optimization routines to ensure the database is running in top form. The initial loading of this screen may take a few extra seconds, so have patience and do not interupt it.
Once the screen is loaded, you will see sections which will allow you to download a copy of the database, upload a previously saved restore file and a section to clean up unused images.
To backup the database, simply choose which database to back up (we suggest backing up both databases) and click Process. The system will then create a text file and force your web browser to download it. Save this file in a safe location on your computer.
To restore a backup file, click the file button to locate a previously saved backup file from your computer. Please note that this restore routine expects a specifically formatted file that the system generates. Modifying the downloaded backups is NOT recommended.
During the course of normal operation, unused images may be left behind in the /images/listings/ directory of your classifieds. The last section of this admin screen will allow you to automatically search for, and remove these unused images.
