BosDates v4.5 Manual

Usergroups

In order to setup the usergroups for your calendar system, you will need to login to your System Administrator account. You may login by clicking "Login/Create Account" on the top menu of your calendar. After you are logged in, you will be presented with the user account screen. On the top menu, you should see a link labeled "Admin". Clicking this link will take you to the admin control panel.

When you enter the admin control panel, you will see a list of links in the left hand column. This section of the manual deals with the "Manage Usergroups" section of your control panel. After clicking the "Manage Usergroups" link, you will be presented with the usergroups for your calendar.

Only users assigned to the System Admininistrator usergroup, or who are in a user group with the Panel Access, and Manage Usergroups flags set to yes are able to view this section of the admin panel.

The BosDates calendar system makes use of usergroups to determine what a user has access to, and what functions they may activate. By default, the system only comes with two usergroups, one for normal visitors and one for System Admininstrators. Neither of these two usergroups can be removed from the system, and the System Administrators usergroup cannot be edited.

To create a new usergroup, enter a title for the usergroup and click process. You will then be shown a screen which you can set up the individual permissions to configure the usergroup to your requirements.

To edit an existing usergroup, click the edit link next to the usergroup title. You will then be presented with a screen where you will be able to adjust permissions as needed.

To remove a usergroup, click the delete link. You will then need to choose which usergroup to move all of the members of the usergroup you are deleting, so they are not orphaned. Take care of which group you move the users to, as there is no fast and easy way to reassign the transplanted users.

For detailed information on what each of the individual settings restrict/permit, please see the reference section.
