BosDates v4.5 Manual

Installation

BosDates can peacefully co-exist in an existing database which you already have setup, or you can create a new database solely for BosDates.

You do not need to create any database tables at all, the install.php script will handle all of the hard work. You just need to have the database shell itself created.

To create a database, you will need to use the utilities your web host supplies to do this. Common utilities include cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin and more. Each of these utilities have their own method of creating a new database, as such BosDev cannot supply directions for all of these utilities. If you have questions on how to create a blank database, please contact your host.

Along with the database, you will need to have a user created which has complete access to the database. Make sure you have the username, password and which database host you will need to access the database before running the install script.

One thing to be aware of, is that some hosts will alter the name of your created database and or username. If you create a database named "calendar", your host may actually create the database of "yourdomain_calendar". The same can hold true for the username you have created. Your host may also truncate your database name to a specified number of characters, so your database name could end up being "yourdomain_calen" instead of "calendar".
