Database
To manage the database which powers your links directory, you will need to login to your administrator account. You may login by clicking "Login/Create Account" on the top menu bar of the directory. After you are logged in, you will be presented with the user account screen. On the left hand menu, you should see a link labeled "System Admin". Clicking this link will take you to the admin control panel.
When you enter the admin control panel, you will see a list of links in the left hand column. This section of the manual deals with the "Manage Database" section of your control panel. After clicking the "Manage Database" link, you will be presented with a screen which is broken into a few sections.
Accessing this section will automatically perform some maintaince upon your database to ensure your database runs smoothly. Simply clicking the "Manage Database" link in the left hand menu automatically performs this action.
To make a backup of your database, simply select which database(es) you wish to backup, and click the backup button. The system will then create a file for you to save on your local computer. This file is in a very exacting format, and it is not recommended that you perform any edits on this file.
To restore a previously downloaded file, just click the browse button provided, locate the file on your local and click the Proceed button. Restoring the backup may take a few minutes, depending upon the size of your backup file. Make sure not to click the Proceed button a second time.
It is recommended that you download both the BosDirectory database, and the BosDev UUS database to ensure a complete backup. Please note that any listings entered into the database from the time of your last backup, to the present will be lost if you restore an older backup. It is a good practice to backup your database on a weekly basis, so that you always have a backup in case you need it. It is also worth noting that the backup does not backup the files on the server, to include the images. It ONLY backs up and restores the database itself.
For specifics on individual items on this screen, please see the reference section.
