Listings

In order to take care of the listings in your links directory, you will need to login to your administrator account. You may login by clicking "Login/Create Account" on the top menu bar of the directory. After you are logged in, you will be presented with the user account screen. On the left hand menu, you should see a link labeled "System Admin". Clicking this link will take you to the admin control panel.

When you enter the admin control panel, you will see a list of links in the left hand column. This section of the manual deals with the "Manage Listings" section of your control panel. After clicking the "Manage Listings" link, you will be presented with a screen which is broken into a few sections.

At the top of the screen, you will notice a button which you can press to enter a listing into the database. Any listing added to the directory via the use of this button will not have an owner, and will be marked as "Submitted via admin panel" in the listings below. No fee will be applied to this listing, and you will be presented with all option choices, regardless of if they are activated or not. This allows you to override your system wide defaults for your submissions.

Following the add section, you will see a section which will allow you to perform periodic checks of the links in your directory, and any reciprocal links. This allows you to ensure that the links in your directory are still active, or that the visitors who have given you a reciprocal link still have your link on their site. To perform these checks, simply select what type of check to perform and how many links to check. The system then check the links in batches of 25, and providing you with check boxes to either take the link offline, or delete the link should it fail the check. Links which were previously offline will also be rechecked when you perform checks. If a link was previously offline, and is now found to be good, it will automatically be restored to an active state.

The next section of this screen, which is not always present, will provide you with a list of any link submissions which are pending your approval, or pending payment of fees. You will be shown the link title, url and description so you may better review the pending listings. To the side of each pending listing you will see links for approving, or deleting a submission. Along with each link you will notice a checkbox. Checking the appropriate box next to the link, and then clicking the "Mass A/D" button will mass approve or delete the submission depending upon the box checked. If you wish to edit a listing, you will need to approve the listing first, and then edit the listing via the edit link in the list at the bottom of the screen.

The last section of this screen is an alphabetically sorted listing of all of the links contained in your directory. By using the toggle on the right hand side of this listing, you may change the view from currently active links, or expired links. The list, which is broken down on the first letter in the link title, will contain the title, who submitted the link, the date the link was added and when the link expires. Beside each link you will see two links, one to edit the submission and one to delete it. To change letters, simply click the letter to be viewed and the list will refresh with the new selection.

The same screen is used when adding a new listing, or editing an existing listing. You will be presented with separate boxes which will allow you to enter the title, the url, any reciprocal link back to your site, the description of the listing, which category/categories the listing is in, what options have been applied to the listing and when to expire the listing. If you are editing an expired listing, resetting the expiration date to a future date will reactive the listing. After you have filled in, or made your edits to a listing, clicking the submit button will apply your changes instantly.
